TLA Worldwide plc (AIM: TLA), a leading athlete representation and sports marketing business, is pleased to announce the creation of a new independent sports marketing business, Talisman Sports and Media ("Talisman"), in partnership with Mr. Simon Thomas and Mr. Andrew Guy. The newly formed company, Talisman, will focus on the commercial exploitation of existing sports rights within the TLA Group and the development of new opportunities. It will be headquartered in the UK with offices in London and Switzerland. 

 

Thomas and Guy, who were previously engaged in global commercial roles at Fox Sports, are seasoned sports marketing professionals with specific experience in brand building as well as the packaging and sale of media rights in existing or newly created premium sports properties.

 

Prior to his role as Executive Vice President of Global Sport and Content Sales at Fox, Thomas was CEO of TEAM Marketing, the commercial agency responsible for marketing and sales of UEFA club competitions including UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.  Guy, previously Fox's Senior VP of Global Sport, came from a Commercial and Business Affairs role at CAA11, UEFA's agency for the sales of national team competitions where he was involved in the commercialisation and sale of rights to UEFA's national team competitions.  Before that he was Commercial Director at TEAM Marketing.

 

TLA Worldwide is a leading athlete representation, event management and sports marketing group quoted on AIM-LSE in London. In the USA, it was most recently responsible for the successful organisation and promotion of the Ireland vs All Blacks Rugby Union match in Chicago.  TLA will not initially have a shareholding in Talisman but has the option to acquire a majority stake within a five year period from the date of this announcement.

Acquires Quantum Dot Patents from Kodak

 

Nanoco Group plc (LSE: NANO), a world leader in the development and manufacture of cadmium-free quantum dots and other nanomaterials, announces that it has acquired a group of patents from the Eastman Kodak Company ("Kodak") in connection with the use of quantum dots in electroluminescent displays, a future display technology.

This patent acquisition, which is in line with Nanoco's strategy of building its patent estate organically and by acquisition, reinforces the Company's intellectual property position in quantum dot electroluminescent displays (QLED), a future technology in which quantum dots can be used to replace the current materials in organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays.

Nanoco is building a patent position in anticipation of many future applications of quantum dots including QLED, a technology that Nanoco has researched for almost 10 years.  Display sales in the medium term are expected to remain dominated by liquid crystal display ("LCD") technology, which is Nanoco's current commercial focus.

The commercial terms of the patent acquisition are undisclosed.

Michael Edelman, Nanoco's Chief Executive Officer, said: "This patent purchase from Kodak broadens our intellectual property estate and commercial position in future display technologies.  The vast majority of current displays are based on LCD technology and we expect LCDs to dominate display sales in the near and medium term. In the longer term, QLED displays could challenge current OLED displays and we aim to have a strong competitive position in this space in preparation for any market change. Our current focus remains driving near term revenue from the supply to the LCD industry of the Company's cadmium-free quantum dots manufactured and marketed by Nanoco and our licensees, Dow, Merck and Wah Hong."

Trakm8 will provide the latest generation T10 Micro devices and the data set created over many years of extensive engineering development as part of the Trakm8connectedcare solution. This service comprises of client logistics and predictive diagnostic service requirements such as crash detection and theft tracking. SDC expects to have a requirement for a substantial number of devices in the first 18 months of the contract with a launch order of 6,000 devices to be delivered in Trakm8's current financial year.

GRESHAM HOUSE REBRANDS FORESTRY DIVISION AND COMPLETION OF FIRST ACQUISITON BY GRESHAM HOUSE FORESTRY FUND

Gresham House plc, the specialist asset manager focused on alternative asset management strategies ("the Company") is pleased to announce the re-branding of its dedicated forestry asset management business, Aitchesse Ltd, as Gresham House Forestry ("GHF").  

GHF manages £238 million of assets on behalf of endowments, institutions, family offices and private investors and was acquired by the Company in November 2015.  The re-branding follows the successful £15 million first close of the Gresham House Forestry Fund LP ("The Fund"), which is targeting a total fundraising of £50 million at final close in 2017. 

In addition, the Company is pleased to confirm that the Fund has now completed its first investment through the purchase of five forests in the west of Scotland for £12 million referred to in the recent announcement on 31 October 2016.  The Fund is targeting annual returns of 10% including a yield of between 2% and 4%.

Midatech provides update on agreement with Emergex Vaccines

 

Midatech Pharma (AIM: MTPH, Nasdaq: MTP), the international specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercialising products in oncology, today announces that following the licence granted to Emergex Vaccines Limited (announced 4 January 2016) Midatech has received an upfront technology access fee and option payment of £450,000 under the terms of the contract.  

 

This exclusive licensing agreement covers the use of Midatech's proprietary gold nanoparticle platform in the development of vaccines for influenza, meningitis, bacterial pneumonia, Ebola virus, Marburg virus and viruses within the Arbovirus class such Zika and Dengue. This is the first deployment of Midatech's gold nanoparticles as a conventional vaccine for infectious disease.

 

Under the agreement, the licence, together with the Service and Manufacturing Agreement for both the synthesis and development manufacturing of cGMP material for clinical trials, was novated from Emergex Vaccines Limited to a related entity Emergex Vaccines Holding Limited ("Emergex"), a private UK biotechnology company focused on developing synthetic T-cell vaccines against new and emerging infectious diseases.

 

Midatech will continue to be entitled to receive certain milestone and royalty payments, as well as service fees, as part of the arrangement.

 

Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Jim Phillips, CEO of Midatech Pharma, said: "I am pleased to see progress being made in the adaptation of our gold nanoparticle technology for use in vaccines for infectious disease, which perfectly complements our type 1 diabetes collaboration in antigen specific immunotherapy, and our early-stage internal programs which address auto-immune disease and immuno-oncology."

 

David Jackson of Emergex added: "The expansion of the Midatech licence with Emergex is important for the development of cross-reactive or universal vaccines against infectious agents sharing common genetic characteristics such as flavi viruses within the Arbovirus group. There were 380 million new cases of Dengue last year and Zika is becoming a global health problem. The licence with Midatech now allows Emergex to develop vaccines that are not restricted to a single flavi virus but potentially act as a universal vaccine against Zika, Dengue and other flavi viruses. This is a continuation of our universal influenza vaccine program which also targets genetic components common to all influenza viruses. Our synthetic T cell mediated vaccines should also be able to safely immunize pregnant women and provide co-immunisation of the foetus which may be required for prevention of the congenital Zika syndrome."
