By using the company's technologies waste material can be turned into cheap synthetic gas which is then consumed by boilers to operate steam turbines to produce electricity. This means zero waste going into landfill and virtually no greenhouse gas emissions.

ISF Slag Laboratory Tests Completed

 

On 1 June 2016, the Company announced that, in co-operation with Kupfermelt Metal Processing CC, its metallurgical partner, a recovery of 77.2% Zn had been achieved from the ISF Slag (ISFS), albeit at a cost of high sulphuric acid consumption. Recognising that this stockpile potentially contains 120,000 tonnes of Zn metal, the Company announced that test work would be continued in order to investigate ways of mitigating the high acid consumption by inter alia modifying the process route and blending it with either Leach Plant Residues (LPR) or Wash Plant Tailings (WPT).

The Board is now pleased to announce that it has successfully completed laboratory scale test work, using a sulphating acid brine leach, on randomly selected LPR/ISFS samples composited in the ratio of 2:1, which approximates to the individual tonnages of the two assets. The laboratory scale test work, whose assay results were verified by an independent accredited laboratory, generated recoveries from the composite of up to circa 85% Zn and 91% Pb at a leach temperature of 80oC, and 75% Zn and 80% Pb at ambient temperatures.

Importantly, the sulphuric acid consumption was more than halved, when compared to the September 2015 tests, to approximately 500kgs/tonne.

The Board is also pleased to report that the sulphating acid brine leach process also recovered approximately 90% of the contained vanadium from the ISFS/LPR composite. The ISFS potentially contains 9000 tonnes of Vanadium (V) which is expected to be recovered in the form of vanadium pentoxide, which has a current aggregate market price in excess of US$15,000 per tonne. 

BMR's metallurgical partner has advised that the proposed Kabwe processing plant can in due course be modified to incorporate a sulphating acid brine leach circuit to process the ISFS/LPR composite.  The Company's strategy remains however to treat first the WPT with the acid brine leach process.

In light of the success of the sulphating acid brine leach tests to recover Zn, Pb and now V, the Company now intends to commission a study to convert the ISFS stockpile into a JORC compliant resource.

Vanadium is also present in the pregnant liquor solution produced by the proposed WPT treatment process. Optimisation test work to ensure the selective recovery of V from the pregnant liquor solution will be completed shortly. The Board has therefore engaged Alfred Knight Laboratories in Kitwe, Zambia to investigate the inclusion of a vanadium recovery circuit in its proposed WPT acid brine treatment facility.

Commencement of First in Human Immunotherapy Study Using Gold Nanoparticle Technology

 

Midatech (AIM: MTPH; Nasdaq: MTP), the international specialty pharmaceutical company focused on commercialising and developing products in oncology, immunology and other therapeutic areas, today announces that its first in human Phase I study of an innovative vaccine (MTX102) using its gold nanoparticle (GNP) technology in type 1 diabetes has commenced. The results from the study are expected in 2017. The nano-vaccine approach also has potential applicability in oncology.

 

The MTX102 vaccine uses Midatech's primary platform GNP technology. GNPs are inert and chemically bound to small antigens which generate a tolerogenic response when injected into the skin, turning down the immune response against the insulin producing cells which cause type 1 diabetes. This is the first investigational product of its type to be used in humans.

 

The Phase I study of eight subjects aged 16-40 years with type 1 diabetes and residual endogenous insulin production aims to examine the general safety and tolerability of treatment. Secondary objectives are to study the feasibility of delivering GNP via microneedles and the scale and nature of immune responses generated in the body. The trial, conducted at two centres (Cardiff, UK and Linköping, Sweden), is the culmination of a four-year European Commission-supported program EE-ASI into researching beta cell preservation using Antigen Specific Immunotherapy (ASI) via GNP technology (www.ee-asi.eu).

Concepta plc (AIM:CPT), the UK healthcare company targeting the personalised mobile health market with a primary focus on women's fertility, announces that it has signed a Manufacturing Agreement ('the Agreement') with Shijiazhuang Huanzhong Biotech Limited ('HZ Biotech'), a leading Chinese manufacturer with operations in Shijiazhuang, to assemble and package Concepta's 'My Lotus' fertility product. This Agreement is in line with the Company's strategy as it builds towards the launch of its My Lotus product for unexplained infertility* into China in H2 2016.

 

Under the terms of the Agreement, HZ Biotech will exclusively assemble and package Concepta produced components (including bulk tests and electronic meters), to produce Concepta's My Lotus product to specification for the Chinese market.  HZ will utilise its manufacturing site and processes, adhering to locally applicable laws and Chinese regulatory requirements.  In addition to assembling the final My Lotus product, HZ Biotech will be the sole purchaser of Concepta's My Lotus product and help facilitate its launch to the Chinese market and include post-market surveillance. Concepta will also look to work with a network of distributors in China to help achieve maximum market penetration in China and will update the market on these developments in due course.

 

Concepta's MyLotus is the only consumer product which allows both quantitative and qualitative measurements of a woman's personal hCG and LH hormone levels in an easy to use home test to facilitate higher conception rates and early diagnosis of any fertility problems. Competitor products currently only allow qualitative measurement and are based on the 'average woman'.

Marketing Agreement with ZoomtraderGlobal

 

Veltyco Group plc (AIM:VLTY), the online marketing company in the gaming, lottery and binary options businesses, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary Options888 Marketing Ltd ("Options888") has entered into a marketing and revenue sharing agreement (the "Marketing Agreement") in respect of the domain ZoomtraderGlobal (www.zoomtraderglobal.com) ("ZoomtraderGlobal") with Novox Capital Limited ("Novox").  Novox is a Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) investment firm and the owner and operator of the domain. 

ZoomtraderGlobal is an option trading platform that is designed to be easy to use and gives traders the ability to trade stocks, currency pairs, commodities and indices on the options market together with money management features that the Directors' believe are unique in the field.   ZoomtraderGlobal offers comprehensive customer support, enabling the provision of quality services.

The Marketing Agreement grants Options888 exclusive marketing rights and a participation in revenue generated by all new customers to ZoomtraderGlobal.

In addition, Novox has assigned to Veltyco the benefit of an option agreement with Elsona Assets Limited ("Elsona") to acquire ZoomtraderGlobal.  It is not the current intention of Veltyco to exercise the option.

As consideration for the Option Assignment and procuring entry into the Marketing Agreement, the Company has allotted and issued to DTIG Holding Limited ("DTIG"), a subsidiary of Elsona, and applied for the admission to trading on AIM of, 10,688,000 new ordinary shares ("New Shares") in the Company. Trading of the New Shares is expected to commence on or around 27 September 2016 ("Admission"). Following Admission, the Company's issued share capital will consist of 67,626,260 ordinary shares ("Ordinary Shares"), with no Ordinary Shares held in treasury. Therefore, shareholders may use the above figure of 67,626,260 Ordinary Shares as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest, or a change to their interest, in Veltyco under the FCA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules. Furthermore, a return on the revenue generated under the Marketing Agreement of up to €50,000 per month will be payable to Elsona for an initial lead-in period of 12 months or until the aggregate sum of returns paid equals €600,000.

Concepta plc (AIM:CPT), the UK healthcare company targeting the personalised mobile health market with a primary focus on women's fertility, announces that it has moved its UK laboratory operations to a new site, at Colworth Park in Bedfordshire, doubling the size of its operational headquarters.  This new laboratory opening is in line with the Company's strategy of increasing its operational capacity and economies of scale as it moves towards launching its My Lotus product for unexplained infertility* into China in H2 2016 and, following CE marking, into the UK and Europe in 2017.

 

The state of the art laboratory will house four employees in R&D and another two employees in Quality Assurance. In addition, a separate area for assembly can accommodate a further ten people producing testing strips for Concepta's 'MyLotus' meter. Aside from manufacture, assembly and testing, the lab will primarily be used as a research and development hub for My Lotus product enhancements and new product development.

 

Commenting on the opening of the new facility, Erik Henau, Concepta CEO said: "Following our highly successful AIM listing in July 2016, this new laboratory is a key part of the Company's growth strategy and extends both its capacity and capabilities as we begin the process of launching our proprietary product into China prior to a European launch in 2017. Research indicates couples start to take positive action ahead of this time and there is little medical support to help them do so.
