Avanti Communications signs the first order for HYLAS 4 capacity

 

Avanti Communications Group plc ("Avanti" or "the Group"), a leading provider of satellite data communications services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa announces its first pre-launch contract for capacity on the HYLAS 4 satellite.

 

Avanti will supply Bentley Walker, one of its key existing customers, with capacity on HYLAS 4 across Sub-Saharan Africa in a $1 million + commitment. HYLAS 4 is on-track to be launched in the first quarter of 2017. It is a 28GHz satellite and will complete Avanti's coverage of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Launch of new connected home product range

 

Flowgroup plc (AIM: FLOW), which provides innovative energy technologies, energy supply and energy services, announces that it has launched a range of connected home devices, Flow Home.

 

Flow Home comprises a range of devices including a smart thermostat, smart plugs and an energy consumption monitor. The devices are controlled and monitored through a smart phone app or an online panel and offer customers extra comfort and control as well as savings on energy.

 

Flowgroup's connected home product suite is provided by Fifthplay, a Belgian connected home specialist which is part of Niko Group.  Fifthplay's existing product range provides a readymade solution to enter the connected home market and is already successfully deployed through some large European Utility providers.

 

Flowgroup also has access to Fifthplay's significant technical development capability, which may allow the Company to develop new connected home products in partnership with Fifthplay.

 

Flow Energy, the Company's domestic supply business, will initially offer Flow Home products to its existing energy customer base. Flow Energy will then offer the Flow Home range to non-Flow customers. The products will be available to buy outright or customers can pay over a 12, 24 or 36 month period.

 

Flow Home opens a new revenue stream for the Company. It also has the potential to increase the loyalty of its energy customers by providing an additional value-added service.

Major New Contract

Chamberlin plc (AIM: CMH.L), the specialist castings and engineering group, is pleased to provide an update on trading for the financial year ending 31 March 2016.  In addition, the Company announces the award of a major new automotive contract and a significant new initiative to launch the Group's integrated machining capabilities. 

 

Results for the full year are expected to show underlying profit before tax ahead of current market expectations on slightly lower revenues. This is despite the continued slowdown in the Group's core markets, including the automotive, steel and oil & gas sectors, and reflects the benefits of a material construction vehicle contract which completed in the current financial year as well as a satisfactory performance from the Group's engineering operations. 

 

The Board is pleased to report a major new automotive contract win worth an additional £3.3m of sales per annum.  The initial benefits of the new contract will be felt in the second half of the financial year to 31 March 2017, with production volumes coming on stream more fully thereafter. The contract is also strategically important as it marks the commencement of the Group's supply of turbo charger bearing housings which are fully machined in-house.

 

To support Chamberlin's move into fully machined components, a new machining facility will be established with an initial £1.6m of investment.  This will be funded through a Regional Growth Fund grant and new debt facilities from HSBC and production at the new facility is scheduled to commence in early 2017.  The facility, when complete, will position the Group as the only fully integrated supplier of grey iron bearing housings in Europe and is expected to open up significant new long term growth opportunities for the Group.

 

Results for the year are expected to be announced towards the end of May when a further update on trading will be provided. 

 

Chairman, Keith Butler-Wheelhouse said:

 

"While trading conditions remain challenging, the business is making good progress. This reflects the management's focus on cost efficiencies, improving processes and new business initiatives as we continue to target profitable revenue growth. 

 

The major new automotive contract win we are announcing today is an important development for our foundry operations at Walsall and we are now committing significant investment to develop our machining capability to support this exciting long term growth opportunity. 

 

This new contract also demonstrates Chamberlin's ability to delivery of a world class product at a competitive cost and, following our investment, the Group will be positioned as the only fully integrated supplier of grey iron bearing housings in Europe."

Driver provides disputes, programme & project management and other consulting services to construction, engineering and industrial markets around the world

 

Driver confirms the award of a professional services contract with International Power Consortium South Africa (Pty) Ltd (IPCSA) to deliver specific project advisory and project management services for the new privately owned Saldanha gas-fired power plant. The contract is however subject to the procurement of sufficient funding for the project, the first stage of which is the securing of seed capital for the completion of a bankable feasibility study. This is not yet complete.

 

The project is designed to provide a comprehensive solution to ArcelorMittal Saldanha Steel to sustain its business beyond 2019. IPCSA and ArcelorMittal signed a development agreement in December 2014 in terms of which IPCSA is the project owner.  The power plant will be located in Saldanha Bay, approximately 150km north of Cape Town. The Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station will have an installed capacity of 1500MW with a potential to increase to 3000MW in future if required. The power plant will supply all of the power requirements for Saldanha Steel up to 250MW, while the additional electricity will be made available to support and sustain existing industry and encourage economic growth in Saldanha Bay, the West Coast District Municipality and the Western Cape Province.

 

Assuming funding is available Driver's services will range from transaction advisory, feasibility, strategic project advice and project management through construction and completion. Securing seed capital for the completion of a bankable feasibility study has already commenced. Initial findings indicate that this study will conclude a positive feasibility for the project's successful execution. The fee for Driver will not be material in the current financial year but subject to funding the benefits will be felt in subsequent financial years.
